Images of pure bondage, just a white background, and rope sculpting a human body.
This is a new series of images. We will see where it goes. How far it goes and well I am following the muse right now.
When a woman becomes pregnant, societies start to infringe on her autonomy. All societies do it. Each one in different ways. But pregnancy affects the freedom of women all over. These images are exploring that infringement. It is an important question as it seems to be a fundamental drive in us. Not that we do it all the same way, but we all feel we have a right and an imperative to control the life inside a woman. And by consequence the life of a pregnant women. Even when we say we do not do it, examination proves we still do. Just not in the way we condemn in others.
These images were in an installation piece I did for SEAF 2011. Each day 3 images were hung, each one had a stack of sudoku puzzles in front of it. If you could answer the puzzle you were entered into a drawing to win that print at the end of the day. The next day three new prints were hung to replace them. Each day there was an easy medium and hard puzzle and corresponding image.
These images are look like black and white abstract shapes form a distance but when you get close you can see the humanity in the line between black and white. For that is where humanity really gets interesting in the gray areas. The gray area is what we should all be studying.
This gallery contains images related to piercing and other body modification. This is a very ritualized and cathartic process and the piercings in the images you will see were all done by me the photographer unless otherwise noted. None of the blood is fake. Breaking the skin of a human being and letting blood flow is a very amazing process and every time I do it it brings up emotions in myself and the people I do it with that surprise me. I hope the images inspire you to think about bodies and how precious they are.
